Dr. Gary Uyeno is currently President and Director of Belmont Shore Optometric, Inc. He moved to Long Beach from Glendale, California 28 years ago, having purchased the present office at that time.

The office has grown and accommodated each new challenge in its community and profession. And each new change has strengthen "patient services" in its maturation.

The level of interest in the area of macular degeneration, prevention and treatment is one of Dr. Uyeno's primary focus. His involvement goes back to years in optometry school, having co-authored a paper on that topic.

To ensure his patients have a hand on all the options in their course of treatment correction, Dr. Uyeno has pursued the treatment of refractive surgery (lasik). He is affiliated with TLC and Maloney Vision Institute in Beverly Hills

Dr. Elaina Chiao graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science from University CA of Irvine and received her doctorate in optometry from Southern CA college of optometry in 2002.

After graduation Dr.Chiao worked in a large ophthalmology/optometry group practice in Ventura County. She worked closely with a pediatric strabismus ophthalmologist and evaluated children and adults with lazy eyes, cross eyes, and double vision. Being in such a large practice, Dr. Chiao also treated patients with a wide range of ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and corneal ulcers and fitted all types of contacts ranging from high astigmatism to bifocal RGPs.

Dr. Chiao joined Belmont Shore Optometric in October 2004 to help Dr. Uyeno with his growing practice. Her expertise in pediatrics, ocular disease, and contact lens, is a great complement to the many services already offered in Belmont Shore Optometric. She currently lives in Long Beach with her husband, a cosmetic dentist practicing in Long Beach, and her 2 year-old son.
